The city of a little over 50,000 people was built in the 12th century, and its skyscrapers became iconic symbols of the city’s Renaissance heyday.
Now, its skyline is set to change forever, as it is going to transform into a new kind of architecture – one that is both more elegant and more sustainable.
The city will be the first in Europe to get its first “vertical” building, which is a building that uses horizontal slabs instead of vertical ones, according to a plan by the city of Milan.
The plans, published by the Milan city council, aim to build the tallest skyscraper in Europe by 2020.

The city has a lot to be proud of in the vertical building project.
Milan has built around 50 skyscrapters in the last two decades, which means it has built a total of 1,300 structures.

The project has been in the works for some time, but it is still in the planning stage.

The first tower is planned to be completed in 2021, but the city will have to find a different design for a second tower, in order to complete the entire project in time for 2020.
This second tower will have the capacity to house 1.2 million people, and will have a capacity of 1.5 million.
“For the first tower, we will build a completely new tower,” said Mayor Della, “because we are not satisfied with the existing tower.”
The plan also includes the construction of an eco-friendly new shopping centre and a new park to serve as an area for community activities.
The council plans to spend around $5.6 million (RM1.9 billion) on the project, which will create around 3,500 jobs.
